Dr Lo' Lo' Passes Away

KUALA LUMPR, 17 JULY, 2011: PAS' Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo’ Lo’ Mohd Ghazali (pic) passed away from cancer at  10:13pm tonight in Selayang Hospital tonight. She was 53.   “Dr Lo'lo' has just taken her last breath a moment ago…” read the MP's official Twitter at 10:30pm.   The first term MP who was going through cancer treatments was earlier said to be in critical condition. It is understood that the first-term MP will be buried at 8am tomorrow.   Rumors of Dr Lo’ Lo’s had been spreading through Twitter posts and Facebook earlier this afternoon but the family had denied it then. In Election 2008, Dr Lo’ Lo’ beat BN’s Datuk Aziz Jamaludin Tahir with a majority of 1.972 votes.   Dr Lo’ Lo’ is the fifth PAS lawmaker to die after the March 8, 2008 general elections. The others were from the Bukit Gantang federal seat and the state seats of Permatang Pasir, Manek Urai and Galas. However, there will be no by-election as the result of Dr Lo' Lo's death as election laws only permits by-elections within three years of the first sitting of parliament after a general election. Dr Lo' Lo; is the daughter of former Perak mufti Mohd Ghazali Abdullah. A trained medical doctor, she worked at a government hospital for six years before transferring to private practice. Cyberspace was flooded with condolences from both sides of the political divide remembering her fondly. Prayers will be held tomorrow morning at Masjid al-Akram in Dato Keramat, Kuala Lumpur.
