Perkasa: We demonstrate because Guan Eng ignores us
May 15, 2012
GEORGE TOWN, May 15 — Non-governmental organisation Penang Perkasa today clarified that all of its demonstrations were aimed at triggering a meeting with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Its head Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin said the demonstrations were not intended to threaten or disturb Lim and his family, but only to get his attention for a meeting so that he may address seven requests from Perkasa.
“Actually, Guan Eng (picture) himself has forced us to hold the demonstrations. He ignored us and did not respond to our seven requests for two years.
“So, he has to face problems. He is not bothered with the plight of the people of Penang and Perkasa itself. We fight for the people, we do not fight for ourselves,” he told reporters, here.
On the demonstration in front of Lim’s residence by Perkasa last Thursday, Mohd Rizuad said the decision was made after numerous attempts to meet him had failed.
On his action of hanging a photograph of Lim with a garland on the main fence of his home, he said it symbolised the rejection of Lim’s rule.
As such, he stressed that all Perkasa’s actions towards Lim prior to this were not extreme compared to the Bersih rally in the federal capital on April 28.
Mohd Rizuad said Perkasa had never damaged public property or brought difficulties to the public during its demonstrations.
He said Perkasa would not stop fighting for the people and would continue to demonstrate until the chief minister agrees to meet them in a professional way. — Bernama
