Let us presume that the Sultan of Selangor is a reasonable man - and just for a brief moment...let us presume that you are the Sultan. Will you accept Azizah as MB of your state?
In Kit Siang's blog this morning the following quote was made by Gurdial Singh Nijar, a Professor at the Law Faculty of University of Malaya re the MB kemelut in Selangor.
"The Selangor Constitution obliges the Sultan to appoint as the MB “a member of the State Legislative Assembly who in his judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of the Assembly”: Article 53(2)(a)"
It obliges the Sultan to appoint as the MB a member of the State Legislative Assembly who in his judgement is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of the Assembly!
Whose judgement?
The Sultan's judgement!
Let us presume that the Sultan is a reasonable man.
Let us presume that the Sultan will know what has been going on in PKR in all the time that it has been governing Selangor.
Let us also presume that the Sultan has some passing knowledge about the career of Anwar Ibrahim in politics ever since he joined Umno up to the present.
Let us presume that the Sultan has the best interest of Selangor at heart.
And just for a brief moment...let us presume that you are the Sultan.
Now what will you, as the Sultan do?
You know that about Anwar and his conviction for corruption and sodomy.
You know about his 16th September 2008 failed attempt to take over the duly elected BN government by trying to secure the defection of 30 MP's.
You know about Langkah Kajang.
You know about the billions held in reserve in the coffers of your state government put there by the current MB - Khalid Ibrahim.
You know about the various videos and allegations of sexual impropriety against Anwar Ibrahim.
And you know that the recent party elections of PKR has taken many many months to conclude - an election where the election committee oversaw a despicable election process and ignored a slew of unprocessed complaints all stamped NFA (No Further Action) and the complaint bureau is a one man show whose credibility (or lack of it) is well known....and what mattered was that Anwar's line up wins election.
And these are but just the tip of the iceberg about the goings on in PKR that this Anwar Ibrahim and his wife presides over.
Now tell me....what would you do?
How will you exercises your judgement in this matter?
Will you accept Anwar's wife as the Menteri Besar?
