BERSIH 4: Tentera campur tangan jika darurat
Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) hanya akan campur tangan dalam perhimpunan BERSIH 4 jika kerajaan mengisytiharkan darurat, kata panglimanya Jeneral Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.
Zulkifeli berkata ATM setakat ini tidak terlibat menghalang perhimpunan itu daripada diteruskan kerana keadaan masih belum memerlukan tindakan itu diambil, lapor The Star Online.
“ATM hanya akan campur tangan dalam perhimpunan itu jika kerajaan isytihar darurat.“Jika keadaan dikategorikan sebagai ancaman kepada ketenteraman awam, kami akan ambil peranan polis untuk membendung keadaan,” beliau dipetik sebagai berkata dalam sidang media di Kementerian Pertahanan hari ini.
Polis sekarang memulakan siasatan terhadap kumpulan anti-BERSIH yang berkata akan berlatih dengan menggunakan parang untuk mempertahankan diri.
BERSIH 4 akan berlangsung 34 jam bermula Sabtu ini di tiga kota besar, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu dan Kuching.
Ia berlangsung ketika Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak sedang berdepan isu derma RM2.6 bilion ke dalam akaunnya, kontroversi 1MDB serta kejatuhan teruk nilai ringgit.
