Nik Aziz: Issue Involving Hasan Ali, Nasharudin Over

BACHOK, 28 DECEMBER, 2011: Pas spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat regards the issue involving former Selangor Pas commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali and former party deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa who had been vocal in criticising the party, as settled and "does not arise anymore".

The Kelantan Menteri Besar said this was because the two leaders, especially Hasan, had apologised to the party over matters regarded as sensitive at a "goodwill meeting" held at his official residence, JKR 10, yesterday.

"The meeting was organised by Pas president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) and we are grateful to Allah that Datuk Hasan had withdrawn his statement which was considered sensitive.

"He's a real man as he was sincere in withdrawing his statement and in his apology. This is what the religion teaches, but it is not easy for anyone to withdraw what he has said and to apologise for his mistake."

Nik Aziz said this to reporters while on a visit to the beach area here which experienced serious erosion due to the strong, huge waves which hit the area over the past few days.

Hasan and Nasharudin had recently criticised the party for deviating from its original struggle, especially over the welfare state issue, but Hasan later apologized for his outburst.

Nik Aziz has also asked the PAS central headquarters to hold a special feast to mark the end of the issue.

Asked about Nasharudin's candidacy for the coming general election, Nik Aziz said it was up to the voters in Bachok (whether to accept him or not).

On the erosion problem, Nik Aziz said the state government would assist in solving the problem within its capacity and was now estimating the cost.

On the issue related to the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M), he urged the people of Kelantan not to reject the aid, and denied having stated that accepting the RM500 aid was haram (forbidden) as displayed by a banner with his image on it.

"The banner is nonsense. Some frustrated people have done that. (To the people), I say, take whatever amount they (federal government) give but when voting time comes, vote for the moon (Pas symbol)," he said.
